The Communications Specialist supports TxDOT's Internal Communications team goal to inform and engage the Department's more than 13,000 employees across the state of Texas through succinct and engaging communications. This individual works as a storyteller across print, digital, videos and beyond. They will create content for Internal Communications projects and assist in writing and publishing articles for TxDOT's intranet site and print publications. The successful candidate will also write, shoot and edit video content for an internal network newscast.Essential Duties:Research, write and edit content for websites, newscasts, videos and other digital content for TxDOT's Internal Communications sectionShoot and edit video for TxDOT's internal news programsNetwork with TxDOT divisions and districts to conduct interviews and develop stories that represent a diverse range of employees across the state Schedule interviews and video shoots with subject matter experts Write for a variety of content types including but not limited to websites, video scripts, print publications, agencywide emails and executive talking pointsUse project management tools to track content development process from inception, writing, editing, approvals to final publicationUpload articles, photos and videos into content management systemsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy of informationEdit written and spoken copy for accuracy, grammar, spelling and punctuationPerform other duties as assigned*A skills test and portfolio will be required for this position.
