Consolidated Construction Co., Inc Communications & Proposal Specialist in Appleton, Wisconsin

Has anyone ever called you a “polymath”? Perhaps a “Renaissance person”? A marketing “unicorn”? We’ve heard that people like you just aren’t out there anymore: a fascinating, multi-talented, organized creative-type who communicates well in words and pictures. Well, we’re the kind of company that doesn’t believe it when others say it can’t be done, and we know you’re out there. We appreciate folks like you, and we want you!

Job Purpose:

Working in a corporate marketing department will provide you with a comprehensive, integrated marketing communications experience, where you will expand the Consolidated brand, reputation, awareness and message. You’ll craft the “voice” of Consolidated and tell the stories of our great projects, happy customers and innovative employees by planning, creating and disseminating internal and external communications and new project proposals that are intelligent and stunning.

Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the Director of Marketing, you will bring about a loyal following by producing engaging marketing communications and winning proposals. Some responsibilities will include:

     Master Communicator:

  • Write, proof, and edit content for web, newsletters, blogs, technical articles, and product sell sheets. Interview internal and external technical experts, conduct research. Provide content and direction to graphic designers and developers for digital communications. Tell the stories of new construction technology, industry trends and opportunities.

  • Write and disseminate corporate and construction project press releases. Develop story pitches, write, present and follow up with editors. Assist in the development and execution of an annual public relations plan and budget.

  • Measure how well we’re doing by preparing and presenting results to leadership on public relations and communications activities. Establish and maintain tools for analytics and insight.

  • Research, plan and prepare award submissions for national and regional recognition.

  • Participate in other sales and marketing activities that involve written communications, including video script writing, advertising copy, social media posts, community outreach activities, etc.

         Determined Project-Winner:

  • Oversee content and production of all proposals, including final review, assembly and delivery of final product.

  • With the project team, examine strategy and competition, and create and execute a tailored plan for each new proposal or presentation.

  • With minimal oversight, execute the response plan to create a professional product that is informative, aesthetically pleasing, and meets all requirements of the RFP.

  • Generate custom copy to meet the specific requirements of each new RFP.

  • Gather and organize data from other departments and tenaciously pursue information.

  • Create, or work with the graphic designer to create, proposal documents that are attractive and provocative. Ensure the final product is clean, professional, and delivered prior to the RFP deadline.

  • With the project team and designer, prepare presentation materials for sales interviews (PowerPoint or other).

  • Research public notices and public meeting minutes to identify proposal opportunities.

    Skills/Qualifications:

We are seeking a creative optimist that can see “win-win” in any situation. In addition:

  • Minimum 4-year degree in English, Mass Communications or Journalism.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills illustrated in 4+ years of experience in a previous communications, writing, or public relations position.

  • Skilled in absorbing technical and industry information in order to produce written materials suitable for a variety of technical and non-technical audiences. Must love research.

  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills, with a high degree of accountability and responsibility.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe InDesign. Prior experience using Adobe Creative Suite a plus.

  • Above average organizational and project management skills. Prior proposal experience a plus.

  • Able to confidently communicate in-person or via phone to the media, customers, and co-workers.

  • Must manage time effectively, and if necessary, work extended hours to meet RFP deadlines.

  • Exercise good judgement to reflect the company brand, style and policy.
